Dry Fork

Rural Homesite, Forests and Creek

Dry Fork Tract is a great forested property set in the rural area of central Cherokee County.

Around 18 acres of level to rolling ground are covered with planted loblolly pine trees about 13 years old. These trees provide a feeling of privacy at the front of the tract, near the road and neighbors. This area has good access from Dry Fork Road, with almost level topography along the roadside. Multiple building sites can be found. Soil maps indicate that the septic perc potential is good in this area. A public waterline is available along the road.

About 11 acres of mixed hardwood forest surround a small stream that flows across the back side of the land. This area ranges from flat creek bottom to steep hillside. Trees include yellow poplar, oaks, maples, and American beech. Some hardwoods are old and large. Patches of native pines are mixed in near the back property line.

The land is all forested except for a woods road and a few small openings. The soils are productive sandy loams. Much of the land would allow for a variety of uses, such as wildlife plots and gardens or small pastures and orchards. However, some parts are limited by steep slopes.

Deer and turkey are attracted to the hardwood along the little creek and move from large tracts connected to the stream system. Habitat could be improved to encourage wildlife to spend more time on the tract. Hunters can take advantage of hillsides overlooking bottomland areas where shots can be made downslope.

The town of Gaffney is about a 15-minute drive away and offers restaurants, doctors, churches, and stores, including Tractor Supply, Lowes, and Ingles Grocery. From local favorites like Daddy Joe's Beach House BBQ and Zackary’s Coffee to national chains like Chick-fil-A and Starbucks, Gaffney offers a lot of variety for its size. The Outlet Marketplace is on I-85, just north of town, and has shops like Michael Kors and Kate Spade. The tract is about 9 miles from Gaffney, 23 miles from Spartanburg, 54 miles from Greenville, and 60 miles from Charlotte, NC. All distances are approximate road miles to the center of town.

The property does not have an address. The nearest neighbor is 375 Dry Fork Rd, Gaffney, SC 29340. This address can be used for GPS directions and will take you to the mailbox across the street from the property entrance. See the attached location map.
